Sustainability marketing research: past,present and future

Abstract

This paper provides a synthesis and critical assessment of the sustainability marketing literature, from the period 1998–2013, building on a previous assessment from 1971 to 1998. It details research within major marketing journals and critically assesses this research in relation to the on-going conversation which focuses on marketing’s relationship with the natural environment. Differences in the content and depth of sustainability coverage in marketing journals are considered. Potential avenues for future sustainability marketing research are proposed, with a particular call for theoretical and managerial reflections which tackle broader systemic and institutional issues within the discipline.     

‘Post‐Third‐World City' or Neoliberal ‘City of Exception'? Rio de Janeiro in the Olympic Era

This article considers processes of urban development within the context of mega‐event preparations in Rio de Janeiro. We begin with a brief overview of these development processes, highlighting their connections to political and economic change in recent years. Proponents of these mega‐event‐led initiatives argue that Rio is undergoing a period of inclusive growth and integration: a perspective we call here a ‘post‐Third‐World city' narrative of urban renewal. Critics, however, contend that urban officials are harnessing mega‐events (e.g. the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games) to push forward a neoliberal agenda of socially unjust policies benefiting the interests of capital and marginalizing the city's poor and especially its favelas (i.e. the ‘city‐of‐exception' thesis). In this article we explore the insights of these two perspectives and consider why they have grown popular in recent years. Though we side generally with the city‐of‐exception thesis, we argue that important geographic and historical particularities must also be accounted for. Without carefully situating analytical perspectives empirically—in particular, cases in which theoretical models are drawn from European and North American contexts—urban researchers risk concealing more than they reveal in analyses of rapidly developing countries like Brazil.     

Knowledge management through the development of knowledge repositories: towards work degradation

This paper questions the consequences of the use of electronic knowledge repositories for work and employment. Drawing on critical research suggesting that knowledge management associated with such tools presents similarities to scientific management principles, it proposes to examine the following key research question: how do employees experience the transformation of the employment relationship when a knowledge repository is introduced to the workplace? The inquiry is grounded in an exploratory qualitative case study of a knowledge management system designed to foster knowledge‐sharing in a Belgian public administration. The findings illustrate two complementary outcomes: this system resulted in employees experiencing deskilling and work degradation, and was met with resistance. Significantly, this paper considers work degradation as a reflexive phenomenon in the context studied, where knowledge‐sharing systems produced deskilling and resistance as part of a specific re‐regulation process.     

From goulash communism to goulash populism: the unwanted legacy of Hungarian reform socialism

The systemic change of 1989/1990 is usually identified as the critical juncture in the modern economic history of post-communist economies. While the change itself was indeed a remarkable moment in time, a branching point from which a multitude of new paths originated in most of the countries in Central and Eastern Europe, this was only partially true in the case of Hungary. If a critical juncture is sought for Hungary, it is more likely to be 1968, the year the New Economic Mechanism was launched. By applying the conceptual framework of historical institutionalism, the article argues that what made Hungary unique during the communist era and what rendered its position as a (one-time) frontrunner proved to be a serious constraint after the systemic change. The legacy of a pre-born welfare state, the constant need for compensating potential losers of any economic reform, along with short-sighted decision-making, have together generated specific path dependencies in the Hungarian trajectory of economic development.     

我国畜禽养殖污染分区治理研究

随着我国畜禽养殖业的迅猛发展,畜禽养殖污染已经成为我国重要的污染源,威胁着我国的水环境和土壤环境等。文章利用我国各省畜禽养殖污染统计年鉴数据,依据各区的畜禽养殖污染总量压力、土地负荷压力和地表水负荷压力以及经济负荷压力等级对我国主要畜禽养殖污染区域特征进行了分析。结果表明,黄淮海地区为H-H-H-H型畜禽养殖污染区,是我国畜禽养殖污染压力最大的地区;青藏高原区为L-L-L-L型畜禽养殖污染区,是我国畜禽养殖污染压力最小的地区;东北区和东南区畜禽养殖污染压力也较大,分别为H-M-M-H型畜禽养殖污染区和H-H-L-M型畜禽养殖污染区;蒙新高原区和黄土高原区畜禽养殖污染压力中等,分别为H-M-M-H型畜禽养殖污染区和H-H-L-M型畜禽养殖污染区;西南山地区畜禽养殖污染压力中等偏低,为M-M-L-L型畜禽养殖污染区。基于上述研究,该文对各区畜禽养殖污染的分区环境治理提出了若干针对性建议。     

货运车辆燃油消耗与运输效率关系研究

文中采用理论分析与模型构建相结合的方式,研究货运车辆的燃油消耗与运输效率之间的关系,基于调研数据,采用回归分析的方法构建模型,得到了不同车型车辆的百吨公里燃油消耗量与实载率的倒数关系模型,为企业提高车辆运输效率,降低燃油消耗提供数据参考。     

A Typology of Communicative Strategies in Online Privacy Policies: Ethics, Power and Informed Consent

The opaque use of data collection methods on the WWW has given rise to privacy concerns among Internet users. Privacy policies on websites may ease these concerns, if they communicate clearly and unequivocally when, how and for what purpose data are collected, used or shared. This paper examines privacy policies from a linguistic angle to determine whether the language of these documents is adequate for communicating data-handling practices in a manner that enables informed consent on the part of the user. The findings highlight that corporate privacy policies obfuscate, enhance and mitigate unethical data handling practices and use persuasive appeals to increase companies’ trustworthiness. The communicative strategies identified provide starting points for redesigning existing privacy statements with a view to communicating data handling practices in a more transparent and responsible manner, laying the groundwork for informed consent.     

钢筋混凝土板在内爆荷载作用下的反应分析

本文对内爆荷载作用下钢筋混凝土板进行数值模拟,并对不同炸药量和爆炸距离作用下产生的爆炸峰值压力及脉冲压力大小进行数值模拟计算,然后分析板破坏过程及破坏形式,给出安全等级评估,从而为板的防爆设计加固提供一些有益的参考。     

栈桥钢管桩浮冰冲击作用下的有限元分析

本文运用有限元分析软件Midas civil和ANSYS分别建立了栈桥钢管桩的整体及局部有限元模型,分析了在浮冰冲击荷载作用下钢管柱的受力情况,为栈桥检算提供理论依据,同时优化设计方案,保证了栈桥在使用中的安全可靠。
